Sam Altman targeted in second attack as two arrested in San Francisco shooting

OpenAI's Sam Altman was hit with another incident Sunday morning, this time a shooting at his Russian Hill home in San Francisco. Two suspects got arrested at the scene, according to The San Francisco Standard.

The pair faced charges for negligent discharge of a firearm — basically they fired a gun without meaning to, or at least that's what the paperwork says. Still, the timing's rough. Altman's been dealing with security headaches for a bit now.

Details are still thin on what exactly went down. The shooting happened early Sunday, and cops showed up fast enough to grab both suspects before they bolted. No word yet on whether anyone got hurt or what sparked the whole thing.

This isn't Altman's first brush with trouble either. The OpenAI boss has had a rough patch security-wise, which makes sense given how visible he's become in the AI world. Being the public face of the company that everyone's either hyped about or terrified of doesn't exactly keep you off the radar.

The Russian Hill neighborhood, tucked into San Francisco's hills, is normally pretty quiet. A shooting there's going to draw attention. Police are still investigating what led to the incident and whether it was actually targeted or just some random act that happened to land at his address.

Right now it's unclear if the two arrested suspects knew who lived at that house or if they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Either way, they're in custody and facing charges. Altman's team hasn't made any public statements about the incident yet.
