Ukraine's president is drawing some unlikely parallels these days. Volodymyr Zelenskyy just compared his country's homegrown weapons industry to how Apple started in a garage — scrappy, resourceful, destined for something bigger.

The comparison came as Zelenskyy was talking up drones as the real future of warfare. He's been pretty vocal about this lately, especially after Ukraine claimed its robot units managed to capture Russian troops. It's the kind of win that gets a leader thinking about the bigger picture.

What's interesting is Zelenskyy's framing here. He's not dwelling on the fact that Ukraine's been forced to innovate under pressure. Whether the Apple comparison actually lands is another question. One started in a Californian garage and became a trillion-dollar company. The other's a country at war, building weapons because it has to survive. But Zelenskyy's point isn't really about market value — it's about starting with nothing and making something that works. It's about necessity breeding innovation, even when the stakes are life and death instead of just market share.

The robot unit claim is harder to verify from here, but if it's true, it shows how far Ukraine's drone game has come. From DIY camera drops to coordinated robotic operations in actual combat. That's wild progress in just a couple years.
