Arsenal just made a Vinicius Jr play nobody saw coming
Arsenal explore Vinicius Jr move as Inter eyes Romero and Madrid's Diomande bid fails. Weekend transfer gossip roundup.
So Arsenal's apparently throwing their hat in the ring for Vinicius Jr. Yeah, that Vinicius Jr—Real Madrid's left winger who's been basically untouchable since he arrived in Spain. The Gunners are exploring a move, which is either audacious or completely mad depending on how you look at it.
Thing is, Real Madrid aren't exactly known for selling their star players, especially not someone who's become such a huge part of their attack. But Arsenal's clearly decided it's worth a shot. Whether this actually goes anywhere or it's just one of those "let's see what happens" inquiries, who knows.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan's got their eye on Tottenham's Cristian Romero. The Argentine defender's been solid for Spurs, but Inter apparently thinks he'd be a perfect fit in Serie A. That's the kind of move that could actually happen—top defender, proven in the Premier League, and Inter's got the resources to make it work.
Over in La Liga, Real Madrid tried their luck with Yan Diomande but got shut down. Strasbourg weren't having it, so that one's dead in the water. Can't blame them for trying though—Diomande's been putting in decent performances in Ligue 1.
It's that time of year when every club starts sniffing around, throwing out offers, seeing what sticks. Most of this stuff won't actually happen. But every now and then one of these wild rumors actually becomes a transfer. Arsenal going for Vinicius Jr would be absolutely wild if it somehow came off.
